Never thought it would happen, but Eason Chan gave a concert in Rotterdam! Now I'm not really his #1 fan, but like I said, you don't have the chance to see a Chinese star perform in NL everyday. The concert was pretty good, we were all seated (which is common in Asia), while I'm used to stand at concerts. So at some point Yan and I decided to go to the front and we got to stand a few inches away from the stage, which was awesome. The security guards kept saying we had to stand back, though, such party poopers ;)

One of my favorite indie bands, Vampire Weekend was in town and played in a packed Paradiso. I know that I've been using the word 'awesome' way too much on this blog and seriously need to find another word to describe things, however, it doesn't change the fact that the concert was awesome awesome awesome! The support act Fan Death was utterly crap though (I'm not even going to bother to put a link here), I needed wodka-lime to help me get through their 'music'... Anyway, I had so much fun at Vampire Weekend's show, it was just one big party! My only complaint is that it was over way too soon. They did play almost all of their songs though, with the majority of their songs being 3 minutes or less. I can't wait to see them again!

Forget what I said about waiting six months till the John Mayer concert! Due to the high demand for the June concert, he held another concert on January 13th. I was lucky enough to score a ticket very last minute for the ORIGINAL price! My friend Jessy also got tickets last minute, but I didn't know until after the concert, thanks to the lack of reception on my phone. Anyway, the concert was awesome, even though I couldn't see a thing (damn tall people...). There was such a great atmosphere, John was really appreciative of being able to play in Amsterdam. And can I just say that Steve Jordan is total BADASS! The things that man can do on the drums, amazing! It was a great preview for June 2nd :)

Don't you just love pre-sale? I was lucky enough to score tickets for the concert of John Mayer on June 2nd, that sold out within 5 minutes during the regular sale. Now I just have to wait 6 months....

Who the Fuck are Arctic Monkeys?

I love going to concerts and this time I went to the Arctic Monkeys. The Eagles of Death Metal were the support act and I wasn't really wowed by them, their songs kinda sounded the same to me. They did have quite some fans though, I saw a few guys sporting fake handlebar mustaches and sunglasses, trying to look like the frontman. Now on to the Arctic Monkeys, who were amazing. The Arctic Monkeys are often criticized for their lack of stage presence, but I felt that wasn't the case on Wednesday, they were in a pretty good mood. The sound was incredible, especially with Matt pounding away on the drums. A cool part was during 'Secret Door', when two confetti cannons were blasted off (I guess I have a thing for confetti). Although I have to confess that the loud bang made my heart jump a little...

Viva la Vida

I went with CK, her brother Chun and friend Stuart to see Coldplay in Munich! They did play in NL, but we thought it would be nice to have a little weekendtrip to Munich. One word to describe the concert: AWESOME!! It was an open air concert and there was a really nice atmosphere with the sun slowly setting. They played all of my favourite songs, brought back a lot of special memories, sigh... Funny part was when Chris forgot the lyrics of 'The Hardest Part':'...and that was the strangest... Fuck! ... And I tried to sing, but couldn't remember anything...' Too funny! I LOVED the butterfly confetti that came down during 'Lovers in Japan'. At the end of the concert, Chun jumped over the gates and collected lots of the confetti for us haha. To make the whole night even better, we got a free CD with songs performed live.
