One Minute to Midnight

My little cousin Fung Fung's summer holiday started today already. Whatever happened to Friday being the last workday and therefore being the last school day? Anyway, he wanted to proof he could stay up till midnight yesterday. He could barely keep his eyes open at around 23.30. I told him to go to bed, but he kept insisting that he could sleep at twelve. The following minutes were spent counting down ('only 10 minutes left...5 minutes left, yay!'). When it was 23.59, Wing told him he could go, since it would be midnight once he'd reach his bed. He immediately ran upstairs after hearing that. Too funny...

I know summer just started, but I'm kinda already having a barbecue overkill... Had a barbecue on my birthday, my brother celebrated his birthday with a barbecue on Saturday and then we had another family barbecue the next day: Fun nevertheless, but it is just too much...

Happy Chinese New year!

To celebrate CNY, I had a nice big family dinner! It was really great that we managed to get (almost completely) together. Lovely Liyani looked adorable with her crown and magic wand, but she was kinda cranky because she was feeling a bit ill. My cousin Tjon was teasing/playing with her and she was not having it at all. Princess Liyani kept trying to make him disappear with her magic wand and 'throwing' fairy dust ('ELFENSTOF!!') at him, it was hilarious!

Isn't she the cutest? Can't believe how big she is already (it's been a while since the last time I saw her). They say she looks a bit like me when I was little (supposedly I looked like her mother, my cousin Helen), but I'm certain she's cuter ;)

According to the WWF, there are only 1600 pandas left living in the wild. Thursday Wing and I wanted to see the 1600 pandas the WWF put on Museumplein, to raise awareness for this. Instead we saw this:

Turned out the pandas were only displayed on Wednesday... Fortunately the cutenessfactor was represented by Lizzy, a 7-week-old White Shepherd. She didn't want to leave us and I was more than willing to take her home with me haha.

Het is alweer een tijdje geleden dat ik een bericht heb gepost, geen tijd/lazy ;)
Vorige week vrijdag was de laatste dag van een postdoc op m'n stageplaats en ze had haar dochter Cordelia 'Coco' meegenomen. Coco is such a cutiepie, ze doet me een beetje aan m'n nichtje Liyani denken. Die middag kwam er niks van m'n werk terecht, omdat ik de hele tijd met haar moest spelen haha.

Vorig weekend was het Memorial day weekend. Doordat het toevallig ook nog Fleetweek was, zat de stad vol met matrozen etc. Zaterdag hadden we met Giselle en haar zoontje Dante afgesproken om naar Central Park te gaan, omdat het mooi weer was. Aangezien we daar toch waren, gingen we ook naar Central Park Zoo. Het was een hele wandeling naar de Zoo, want de dierentuin zat ergens in het zuidoosten, maar wij waren net in het westen en Central Park is groot! De Zoo zelf was niet heel bijzonder, hij was niet zo groot. Nadat we Giselle & Dante naar het station hadden gebracht gingen we naar Top of the Rock in Rockefeller Center, waar je een mooi uitzicht over de stad hebt. Daarna gingen we naar Miguel en hebben we een Wii-night gehouden hahaha. Zondag hadden we weer tot laat een Wii-night gehouden, omdat ik maandag op Memorial Day lekker vrij had ;)
